MARK'S TOP TEN
MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are you still touring?

I officially retired from the road at the end of 2003 because the travel time was precluding me from working on other projects that were very important to me. I did a handful of dates over the next few years when I had the time, but at this point, with my radio show and new restaurant, it would be difficult to squeeze live dates in. I thought I'd have difficulty with the decision not to tour, but I'm very, very excited about my new ventures.

Would you ever consider getting together for a reunion with Paul and the Raiders?

Phil, Drake, Smitty and I got together in Portland in 1997 for a reunion concert. It was a huge success and a lot of fun, but took a great deal of time to do it right. Over the years various people have tried to put some type of reunion together with Paul, but it wasn't meant to be. At this point, it's not an option I'm interested in.

What are the other Raiders doing these days?

Considering the number of Raiders over the years, answering that would be an entire website in itself! For the most complete info, I'd suggest you Google the name of the guy(s) you're interested in.

Are Where the Action Is or Happening or any other TV shows that you appeared on out on video?

The only legal footage that currently exists is from Hullabaloo, available on DVD. Dick Clark has not licensed any footage from the shows he owns, with the exception of a clip of "Ooh Poo Pah Poo" from American Bandstand that was out a few years ago on VHS. It's an unfortunate and rather unbelievable situation that the most televised rock and roll group in the history of the country, with 700-plus network TV appearances, has the least amount of legal footage out there.

Are you doing any recording these days?

I've done several projects over the past few years: (Shelter [1990/2004)], Video Dreams [1996], Live at Rick's Cafe [2002], Last Midnight Ride and Twas the Night Before Christmas [2004]). After we get Mark Lindsay's Rock & Roll Cafe up and running and I get a little free time again, I'll start work on another project. In the meantime, we're working on getting out some of the hundreds of recordings I've already done (from 1960-now), mostly via download at Mark Lindsay's Groovy Download Center.

Are you married and do you have any children? Where do you live now?

My wife Deb and I will celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary this July. We have a Newfoundland dog (Cherry, the Official Mascot of Mark after Dark), plus four cats who are Maui Humane Society alumni (Kazuma, KeaLani, and the White Brothers, Monet and Matthew). We live in Portland, Oregon, and in anticipation of the time I'll spend at the restaurant (doing my show, pre-production, and working on a syndicated show for future broadcast), we recently moved a bit closer to it.

Would you send me an autographed picture? Can I send CD covers or albums for you to autograph?

We have a great selection of photos at Groovy Stuff that will provide lots of options for you. That's the place we also have autographed CDs (and other memorabilia, vintage and otherwise). Sorry, but we just can't take the responsibility of getting and sending your own CD covers/albums via the mail; it's very time-consuming and too risky in case they get lost. I'm happy to sign them in person for you.

If I come to your restaurant, will you have lunch/dinner/etc with me? When are you there?

This is another one that falls in the category of "there's lots of you and just one of me!" (not to mention "how much can one guy eat, anyway?!)" Most of the time I'm at the restaurant [opening in May 2007], I'll be in the radio booth (on the air or recording or doing pre-production), but I'll be happy to stop by your table and say "Hi" after the show or when I take a break. Trust me, the food and memorabilia will be so (respectively) delicious and groovy that it'll be an enjoyable experience even if I'm not there. I'll be onsite in the "K-Hits Corner" for my radio show on Saturday nights as soon as we open in May; my other visits will depend on everything else in my schedule and will vary every week.

Are you working on your autobiography?

Yes, that's one of the projects I'm working on, and at some point it'll get done. You'll be the first to know!

Do you still have your ponytail?

Every so often I cut it short or completely off, but it's usually hangin' back there.
