TODAY's
"DEEP DIVE"
SHOPPING FRENZY
Thanksgiving is in the rear view mirror, and the holiday shopping rush is on.
Recognizing the tradition of Black Friday through Cyber Monday,
Mark has two hours of the best American music for YOU
that's all about the current week's shopping extravaganza.
RAIN, SLEET, SNOW - Mark opened the first set with the Raiders and this fuzz-drenched tune from the cult classic 1967 Christmas Present....And Past album.
“When CBS said they wanted a Christmas album, we couldn’t see giving them the one they probably expected. Then we’d flip on the news and see ’Nam in full color, so that had to sink in. We were also traveling in the South at the time, so those kinds of civil rights issues came up. So most of our singles weren’t political, but the Christmas album totally was. It was a disaster, but it reflected what we were feeling at the time. It was a good time for flower power and protest. There was a lot of tongue-in-cheek involved” - Mark Lindsay, 1967

MONEY HONEY - Mark closed the second set with this Elvis cover of the Clyde McPhatter hit.
FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY - Mark opened the third set with The O'Jays.
SHOPPIN' FOR CLOTHES - Mark started Set 4 with The Coasters' tune, and talked about how it was part of the very early Raiders' live sets
ALL OF YOUR TOYS - Mark played this Monkees song at the end of Set 5.
NO MONEY DOWN - Chuck Berry opened the sixth set. His very first car was a 1934 V8 Ford, but he did have to fork out a $10 down payment, and was obligated to pay $5 a month against the balance.
MONEY CAN'T BUY ME - For Set 7, Mark chose this Raider tune from the1968 Hard'n'Heavy album (back of the UK edition shown above), and told the story of being recently offered a trade of "?!" for getting back his old Ferrari.
TWO TICKETS TO PARADISE - Mark played some Eddie Money in Set 8.
THANKS to everyone who bid on Mark's memorabilia in the Julien's auction in November, and congratulations to the winners! We accidentally packed some acetates so they went to Hawaii instead of Julien's. We'll have Ryeland Allison transfer them after the holidays, so keep an eye on this website for news on their posting.
It's that time of the year again!
