UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED
60 years ago this month, consumer advocate Ralph Nader turned the world of automobiles upside down with his book that targeted the companies that made cars, and his biggest bullseye was on the Chevrolet Corvair.
Inspired by the anniversary,
Mark's got two hours of music about cars for you today.
He also mentions the huge Julien's rock and roll memorabilia auction
that's online right now and ends on November 20-21.
Mark has 69 lots in it, including Lot #200, which includes documents
(bills of sale, registrations, show schedules, contracts, photos, etc)
relating to his vintage Rolls Royce and 1967 Ferrari.

CORVAIR BABY - OF COURSE, Mark had to open the show with the Raiders and the tune they recorded as a Checy dealer promo.
YOU CAN'T TAKE MY BOYFRIEND'S WOODY - Mark closed the first set with this Angels' surf tune, written by members of The Strangeloves.

STING RAY - Mark closed the second set with this Rip Chords song that was released on Sundazed decades after its original recording, written by and featuring vocals by Terry Melcher and Bruce Johnston.

CAR CRAZY CUTIE - The Beach Boys were in Set Number 7.
VEHICLE - Mark opened the 8th set with the Ides of March. Here they are performing it on Upbeat.
NEWSFLASH:
Mark has moved to Hawaii, and as hinted earlier, has consigned some of his rarest memorabilia to a prestigious auction house. Julien's has put together a huge rock and roll memorabilia auction, including 69 lots from Mark.
It features many Raider acetates (with digital transfers done by Keith Allison's son Ryeland and sent to your email address, with the physical materials sent to you by Julien's), stage apparel, a guitar, a flute and trumpet used on stage in the early 60s, the tambourine used on the recording of Kicks, and many other goodies, including the desk from Cielo Drive where Mark wrote the lyrics to many of the Raiders' hits and dozens of album tracks. Terry Melcher owned the desk and later gave it to his mom Doris Day, so it has an amazing provenance.
Bidding has just opened online, and culminates with a live auction in Nashville on November 20th. Check out all 69 lots of Mark's memorabilia HERE.
