TODAY's
"DEEP DIVE"
NEW YEAR'S EVE CELEBRATION 2025
The year ends with two hours of the
best American New Year's Eve music for YOU!
HAU'OLI MAKAHIKI HOU!
New Year's Eve Party - George Thorogood and The Destroyers got today's party started!
1999 - Mark played this Prince classic in thr first set. Were YOU running around to your electronic gear pieces to make sure they survived Y2K?
MIDNIGHT CONFESSIONS - Mark selected this Grass Roots' tune, originally written by Lou Josie for his Ever-Green Blues Band, for the second set. The original recording follows the Grass Roots hit.
MEET YOU AFTER MIDNIGHT - Mark played the Chesterfield Kings in set number 3. Here they are performing it live at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool.
DON'T BREAK YOUR PROMISE - Mark talked about New Year's Resolutions and played this Ovations tune in the fourth set. He used the example of being as tenacious in making your goals as Susan Daley, the woman who didn't give up and, although it took 15 hours, finished the Honolulu Marathon. Being last didn't matter - her goal was to finish.
IT'S ALL OVER NOW, BABY BLUE - Mark chose The Byrds to usher 2025 out for the fifth set. Below there's a video of the finished song, as well as one with studio outtakes as the track was being cut. That's producer Terry Melcher's voice that you hear.
WHO WILL YOU BE KISSING ON NEW YEAR'S EVE? - Mark played this Brett Eldredge/Idarose cover of the classic New Year's Eve song in Set Six.
HELLO GOODBYE - As we say bye to 2025 and hi to 2026, Mark played this Dwight Twilley cover of the Beatles classic in the seventh set today.
I JUST WANT TO CELEBRATE - Rare Earth was included in Set Eight.
AULD LANG SYNE - The Dollyrots closed the show today.
THANKS to everyone who bid on Mark's memorabilia in the Julien's auction in November, and congratulations to the winners! We accidentally packed some acetates so they went to Hawaii instead of Julien's. We'll have Ryeland Allison transfer them after the holidays, so keep an eye on this website for news on their posting.
