This Week's
"DEEP DIVE"
WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
Grab your Guinness or green tea, your green beer or Green River soda pop, and join us for 2 hours of the best American music for our St Pat's celebration.
FREDDY CANNON - Mark opened the show with Freddy's ABIGAIL BEECHER, since the theme for this year's Women's History Month honors teachers. And in Set 8, he played Tallahassee Lassie, which started out as a poem written by Freddy's mother Mimi. Mark played a version by The Ashcats, but guess who else recorded it?

I WANT CANDY - Mark played the Strangeloves in the third set, and recited the accomplishments of one of his former roommates at Cielo Drive, Candy Bergen. Here's Candy with boyfriend Terry Melcher at The Whisky in the summer of 1967.

AMANDA - Mark played this Dionne Warwick song to open the sixth set, and told the story of writing it with Artie Butler for the 1971 movie The Love Machine. Artie composed and arranged the movie score, and as you listen, you'll recognize his style from the arrangements he did on Mark's solo works like ARIZONA.

FUJIYAMA MAMA - Mark closed the show with Wanda Jackson's hit record that was at #1 in Japan for SIX SOLID MONTHS. She wanted to cut it after she heard the original version by Annisteen Allen.
