 NAME GAME
Today we're playing the Name Game, so Mark will be playing two hours of the best American music that gets really personal...

THE NAME GAME - How else would we open the show? Here's Shirley Ellis with Lincoln Chase, live on The Merv Griffin Show in 1965. (If Lincoln wasn't such a talented singer/songwriter/producer, he just may have had a great NBA career!)

ELVIS IS EVERYWHERE - Mark played this Mojo Nixon song about The King to open the first set. Here he is performing it LIVE in 1991.

BIG BOY PETE - Mark played this tune from the 1965 Here They Come album and mentioned that it was the most dangerous Raider song of all. Watch the live clip from The Johnny Carson Show and you'll see why!

WHEN ARE THE TEMPTATIONS NOT THE TEMPTATIONS? - To open the third set, Mark played the original group by that name, a doo-wop group from New York, and BARBARA. Apparently trademarks weren't policed that strongly back in 1961 when a Detroit group formed and called themselves by the same name.

TIMOTHY - Mark played The Buoy's controversial song to open Set 4, and told the story of how songwriter Rupert "Pina Colada Song" Holmes deliberately set out to write a song that would get banned. Rupert also wrote GIVE UP YOUR GUNS for them

POP HATES THE BEATLES - JOHN PAUL GEORGE RINGO - Mark closed the show with comedian Allan Sherman's parody of POP GOES THE WEASEL. Here's a clip of him performing it on The Dean Martin Show with Dean and Vic Damone.

NEWSFLASH:
Mark  lived on the island of Maui for 8 years, and - ever the wanderer - has purchased a new place in Hawaii and decided to move back there very soon...potentially as early as this August, to as late as January. (The timing depends on extensive dental work for his cat Six which, due to his heart condition, can only be done at a few veterinary universities in the US, and he's waiting for an appointment.)

What does this mean? Mark is parting with nearly ALL of his memorabilia with the exception of his gold Raider/solo albums and 2 guitars. He's not going to take up half a ocean container to take it with him, nor to rent climate-controlled space to protect his collection from the ravages of salt and humidity as he did when he lived on Maui. Nor does it make sense to leave it all boxed up forever.

So...he's putting together a large memorabilia sale at a prestigious celebrity auction house very soon. That most special memorabilia will need to be packed up by the last week of April to be delivered to the auction house. It will include his Doris Day desk that started out as his writing desk at Cielo Drive, his saxes, a guitar, other gear, stage or TV-worn apparel, and much more.

And...after the move, the store will be very limited in size, with just a few autographed CDs and possibly photos, and he will not do personalizations or phone calls after that. If you want to be sure of having memorabilia with an autograph personalized to YOU, please try to get it very very soon. Ditto for any apparel or rare memorabilia on the website, since that will definitely be pulled to go to the auction. BTW the auction pieces will have a reserve price of the current store price.

We're adding lots more personally autographed goodies every day to
Mark Lindsay's Music & Memorabilia Shop, so be sure to stop by SOON for your last chance to add to your collection.
