This Week's
"DEEP DIVE"
FATHER'S DAY
This weekend we're celebrating Father's Day with songs devoted to the guys.
Mark will play two hours of the best American music that will put you in the mood, Daddio!
Mark and his Dad, who really should have been born a Mountain Man in the 1800s, in Idaho.
OH MAN! - Mark opened the show with a band he's just discovered - and he absolutely loves the entire album. Below is a video of the first single from the album, ALL MY FAULT, and their recent appearance on CBS Saturday Morning, singing OH MAN! (in their Evil Knievel jumpsuits.) More on the album HERE.

DADDY COULD SWEAR, I DECLARE - The first set ended with Gladys Knight and the Pips, and Pearl Jam later recorded a demo of the tune. Here's Gladys doing the song on Midnight Special, followed by the Pearl Jam demo.

MICKEY'S A COOL DRUMMER - Mark played this homage to Micky (not to mention Hal Blaine and Jim Gordon) to close Set 2. It's from OF MONKEES AND MEN - more info HERE. And The Minus 5 will be on the Underground Garage Cruise in 2025!

LOUIE GO HOME - Mark played the second, Midnight Ride version of this song that he wrote as a followup to LOUIE LOUIE. It's just one of the early Raider nuggets that he'll perform on next years Underground Garage Cruise - backed by The Grip Weeds.

PAPA DON'T TAKE NO MESS - James Brown was featured in the fourth set, and Mark told the story of how his music was rejected for the Hell Up In Harlem Movie and the "honor" instead went to Edwin Starr. But the soundtrack wasn't promoted, and it stiffed, while James put his submitted music out on his PAYBACK album - and had a hit!
Here's James performing the song live.
