THE EYES (and "I's") HAVE IT
August is National Eye Exam Month, so in addition to reminding you to show some love to your peepers, Mark will play 2 hours of the best American music
all about eyeballs - or songs beginning with he letter "I".

THESE EYES - Mark opened the show with Junior Walker and The All-Stars and their version of the Bachman-Cummings tune. Here they are in a live TV performance.

Mark also mentioned Junior's session work - including his incredible sax parts on Foreigner's URGENT.

I DON'T WANT NOBODY (TO LEAD ME ON) - Mark played The Raiders to open the first set. The song was recorded for the GOIN' TO MEMPHIS album, with producer Chips Moman's American Studios house band backing Mark on vocals. Here's the Raiders "performing" the song on the Smothers Brothers TV show in 1968.

I CAN'T BE SATISFIED - Mark closed the first set with Curtis Salgado (and his guitar player Alan Hager). John Belushi (shown at right in the 1977 photo in Eugene with Curtis) credits Curtis as the inspiration for The Blues Brothers. More on that history HERE.

IF I DIE YOUNG - Mark played one of his favorite female singers,Kimberly Perry, to close Set 3. The original recording was a country hit, and it was remixed the following year with more of a pop feel, which is what Mark played today. He also mentioned the followup version that Kimberly released last year.
