Mark has moved to Hawaii, and as hinted earlier, has consigned some of his rarest memorabilia to a prestigious auction house. Julien's has put together a huge rock and roll memorabilia auction, including 69 lots from Mark.

It features many Raider acetates (with digital transfers done by Keith Allison's son Ryeland and sent to your email address, with the physical material sent from Julien's in Los Angeles), stage apparel, a guitar, a flute and trumpet used on stage in the early 60s, the tambourine used on the recording of Kicks, and many other goodies, including the desk from Cielo Drive where Mark wrote the lyrics to many of the Raiders' hits and dozens of album tracks. Terry Melcher owned the desk and later gave it to his mom Doris Day, so it has an amazing provenance.

Bidding has just opened online, and culminates with a live auction in Nashville on November 20th. Check out all 69 lots of Mark's memorabilia HERE.

BONUS OFFER: Should you purchase any item from Julian's that is paper-based, i.e. unframed photos, contracts, flyers, or other paper memorabilia, Mark will be happy to sign them to you. We'll make arrangements to have you ship it to us in Hawaii (insurance is your responsibility) and send it back. Because some lots contain a large amount of individual items, there's a limit of 5 items PER LOT purchased for this offer.

Mark Lindsay shared the bachelor pad at 10050 Cielo Drive with his writing partner and Raiders' producer, Terry Melcher, from 1965-1967. After both Mark and Terry moved out, the terrible events of August 1969 occurred at the formerly peaceful abode, and became the basis for Quentin Tarantino's alternative-history film, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. The movie featured four Raider songs, as well as a TV clip from the show Mark co-hosted, Happening '68. Below is detailed information about the three lots featuring Cielo Drive and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood memorabilia.

LOT 167
"1960s Desk Used At Sharon Tate's 10050 Cielo Drive Residence, Later Owned by Doris Day"

A pine desk with three drawers, stripped to a natural finish, originally purchased by Terry Melcher in 1966 for the home he and Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders shared at 10050 Cielo Drive, the site of the infamous Manson family murders in August of 1969. The desk was located in a quiet space in the living area under the loft.
In 1967, when actress Candice Bergen began to spend more time at Cielo Drive with Melcher, whom she was dating, Lindsay decided to find a place of his own. Melcher remained at the Cielo Drive house until December of 1968, when he and Bergen suddenly moved out and moved to his mother Doris Day’s Malibu Beach house. They took the pine desk with them, and when Doris sold the beach house, it went up to her home in Carmel, and later became part of her estate sale held at Julien's Auctions in 2020.
In a direct quote from Mark Lindsay, he shared of the desk: “Terry and I would start our songwriting process sitting together at the baby grand. We’d come up with a melody and a few lyrics, along with ‘the hook’. At that point, Terry would go off to make phone calls and conduct other business at the larger desk, and I would sit at the pine desk to write the rest of the lyrics. I wrote most of the lyrics to our hit singles Good Thing, Him or Me, Ups and Downs,
I Had A Dream, The Great Airplane Strike, Peace of Mind, and dozens of album cuts on that desk.”

LOT 168
"10050 Cielo Drive Signed Poster
and Never Before Seen Photos with Magazine
"

A group of photos, from the personal collection of Mark Lindsay, including a large framed poster of Lindsay at Cielo Drive, where he lived with music producer and son of Doris Day, Terry Melcher, in 1967.
Lindsay was a favorite of 16 Magazine Editor Gloria Stavers, and in 1966 she visited the Cielo Drive house to take photos of the Paul Revere and the Raiders front man for the magazine. One of the photos featured him standing on the split rail fence overlooking the valley below, and Lindsay turned that into a poster, which hung at his Portland, Oregon restaurant, Mark Lindsay’s Rock & Roll Cafe.
Gloria used the photos from her trip for a feature article about Mark at the Cielo Drive house in the December 1966 issue of 16. In 1997, a book titled Who’s Your Fave Rave was published and featured an interview with Lindsay as well as a reprint of two pages from the original article. This lot includes a copy of Who’s Your Fave Rave.
Also included are two never before seen framed 8x10 photos from Lindsay’s collection were taken during a publicity shoot for Paul Revere & The Raiders at 10050 Cielo Drive. In one photo, the group is pictured posing through the top half of a Dutch door between the dining area and the kitchen, and in the other, Lindsay is seen through the bottom half of the door.
Dimensions: Poster framed, 22 x 26 x 1 inch

LOT 228
"Paul Revere & the Raiders
"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" Related Ephemera
"

A group of ephemera related to Quentin Tarantino's 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019, Columbia Pictures), from the collection of Paul Revere & the Raider's front man, Mark Lindsay.

This lot includes: a framed poster that Lindsay received at a New Beverly Theater screening of the film he attended; a collectible 4k DVD set with additional scenes and other special features, plus a blue vinyl 45 with one of the songs in the movie, "Good Thing," whose lyrics Mark wrote on the desk offered in this sale; a collectible Limited Edition Super Deluxe double orange vinyl LP set; and six posters given to Lindsay by Quentin Tarantino.

Also included is a sealed copy of "The White Album", the limited-edition soundtrack sold exclusively at Amoeba Records in Los Angeles, prior to the official soundtrack being released. Quentin Tarantino told Mark Lindsay that they used stickers for the album artwork
on the white sleeve base so they could keep the song list top secret until the last minute.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, a fairy-tale re-telling of the events that took place in August of 1969 at Lindsay and Terry Melcher’s former bachelor pad, 10050 Cielo Drive, featured four Paul Revere & the Raiders tracks on the soundtrack. Lindsay was invited to an event at the Grammy Hall of Fame Ceremony with Tarantino in September of 2019, and was also the director's guest at a 35mm showing of the film at his New Beverly Theater.

Dimensions: Largest Poster, 24 x 36 inches
