If you think kicks just keeping getting harder to find, then you haven't spoken to Mark Lindsay lately...
Never one to shy away from adventure, Mark -- the former lead singer for Paul Revere & The Raiders -- and his wife Deborah will be "picking it up" and "leaving it all behind" at their home in Florida this weekend and hitting the road with their new Earthbound tm "green" recreational vehicle for a sight-seeing tour of North America that's expected to last upwards of two years.
"This forthcoming journey across America is truly the realization of a life-long dream," states Mark, who was immediately convinced that he'd found the perfect vehicle for his new adventure after visiting the Earthbound Recreational Vehicles, LLC factory and meeting the principals and local officials in Marion, Indiana earlier this year. It wasn't long before he went back up to the factory and picked up his new innovative, ecologically-designed RV, dubbed "Arkadia."
"It reminds me of a luxurious yacht or private jet with what I call a 'space-age retro feel'. We even had them put three solar panels on it, so we can be off the grid and explore out-of-the-way locations. We're heading up to Acadia National Park in Maine this month, and down to the Florida Keys in November. I'll be able to work on my music or my autobiography in these and other spectacular spots."
In between, Mark and Deborah will be making a stop in Parsippany, New Jersey, where Mark will be appearing at the Chiller Theatre Expo from Friday, October 29th through Sunday, October 31st (<www.chillertheatre.com).
Before traveling to the Keys with "Arkadia," the Lindsays will be taking a slight break from their RV travels in early November by taking a trip to London, England, returning to New York on a transatlantic crossing via Cunard's Queen Mary 2.
"Our hope is to cover the majority of southern states this winter and the northern states next summer," comments Mark. "We plan to see some great sights, meet new people and visit with friends and fans along the way."
Wandering from place to place is nothing new for Mark...
From the time he could walk, Mark was on the move... much to the dismay of his parents and the local police. He was often found meandering down roadways heading for the outskirts of town, seeking distant horizons even as a youngster, and was nicknamed "Marco Polo" for his efforts.
When Mark grew up to be the co-founder and the lead singer of the 60s/70s rock band known as Paul Revere & The Raiders, he expanded his traveling ways to tour buses and jets and criscrossed the United States hundreds of times in his career.
When he wasn't busy performing, Mark rarely stayed home and could usually be found exploring some new environ with his wife Deborah. He was determined to take on this bold, new endeavor of traveling full time and experiencing the treasures of our vast nation in depth.
"We couldn't be more excited about touring the country in our RV and look forward to sharing our experiences," says Mark.
The Lindsays will be blogging about their lifestyle and travels on Mark's official website (<www.marklindsay.com).
Mark will also be performing with his band at a benefit concert in Marion, Indiana on Saturday, October 16, to say thanks to Earthbound RV and the city, and to benefit local charitable groups.
