Mark has moved to Hawaii, and as hinted earlier, has consigned some of his rarest memorabilia to a prestigious auction house. Julien's has put together a huge rock and roll memorabilia auction, including 69 lots from Mark.

It features many Raider acetates (with digital transfers done by Keith Allison's son Ryeland and sent to your email address, with the physical material sent from Julien's in Los Angeles), stage apparel, a guitar, a flute and trumpet used on stage in the early 60s, the tambourine used on the recording of Kicks, and many other goodies, including the desk from Cielo Drive where Mark wrote the lyrics to many of the Raiders' hits and dozens of album tracks. Terry Melcher owned the desk and later gave it to his mom Doris Day, so it has an amazing provenance.

Bidding has just opened online, and culminates with a live auction in Nashville on November 20th. Check out all 69 lots of Mark's memorabilia HERE.

BONUS OFFER: Should you purchase any item from Julian's that is paper-based, i.e. unframed photos, contracts, flyers, or other paper memorabilia, Mark will be happy to sign them to you. We'll make arrangements to have you ship it to us in Hawaii (insurance is your responsibility) and send it back. Because some lots contain a large amount of individual items, there's a limit of 5 items PER LOT purchased for this offer.

Below is detailed information about the 20 lots featuring photographs and posters, as well as banners.

LOT 166
"Freddie Chapman Ephemera"

A collection of ephemera related to Freddie Chapman and The Idaho Playboys, Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere & the Raider's first band, including: a Freddie Chapman card stock name promo; a newspaper ad for show; a mimeographed prom show announcement; and two rare stage photos, one including Lindsay (sitting at side of stage) as well as Dick White and Bob Mooney White - the only one know to exist.
The photo of Mark with his sax is from the 1961 Raiders.

In 1958, Lindsay joined a local rockabilly band called Freddie Chapman and The Idaho Playboys after winning a local talent contest. Lindsay was introduced as “Mark Allen - he bawls and squalls and crawls up the walls!” Chapman was a local DJ but was fired after accidentally letting the F-bomb slip on the air, and that was the end of the group.
But three members of the band, Mark Lindsay, Dick White, and Bob Mooney White,
went on to co-found Paul Revere & The Raiders along with Revere and Jerry Labrum.

"10050 Cielo Drive Signed Poster and
Never Before Seen Photos with Magazine"

A group of photos, from the personal collection of Mark Lindsay, including a large framed poster of Lindsay at Cielo Drive, where he lived with music producer and son of Doris Day, Terry Melcher, in 1967.
Lindsay was a favorite of 16 Magazine Editor Gloria Stavers, and in 1966 she visited the Cielo Drive house to take photos of the Paul Revere and the Raiders front man for the magazine. One of the photos featured him standing on the split rail fence overlooking the valley below, and Lindsay turned that into a poster, which hung at his Portland, Oregon restaurant,
Mark Lindsay’s Rock & Roll Cafe.

Gloria used the photos from her trip for a feature article about Mark at the Cielo Drive house in the December 1966 issue of 16. In 1997, a book titled Who’s Your Fave Rave was published and featured an interview with Lindsay as well as a reprint of two pages from the original article. This lot includes a copy of Who’s Your Fave Rave.

Also included are two never before seen framed 8x10 photos from Lindsay’s collection were taken during a publicity shoot for Paul Revere & The Raiders at 10050 Cielo Drive. In one photo, the group is pictured posing through the top half of a Dutch door between the dining area and the kitchen, and in the other, Lindsay is seen through the bottom half of the door.

A framed photo featuring Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere & the Raiders and record producer, songwriter, and musician, Michael Lloyd. Signed and inscribed in gold marker on the front by Lloyd to Lindsay in 1995: "Dear Mark - You set me on the road to success!! Thanks for everything - Michael Lloyd."
In 1967, at the urging of 16 Magazine’s Gloria Stavers, Lindsay was offered the role of "Maxwell Frost" in the upcoming movie, Wild In The Streets (AIP, 1968). The Raiders had a full tour schedule that summer, requiring Lindsay to make a decision to stick with what had become a successful music career, or leave the group and try his luck as an actor. He chose to stay in music, and the role went to Chris Jones.
Meanwhile, before he was 20, musical prodigy Michael Lloyd had formed several bands, written and produced songs, and begun working with Mike Curb, whose Tower Records label released the soundtrack for Wild In The Streets. Curb tapped Lloyd to be part of the fictional band for the movie, "Max Frost and The Troopers," and also released an album on the band. They had a #22 hit in 1968 with the Barry Mann-Cynthia Weil song "Shape of Things To Come," and as it happened, Lindsay and Dick Clark were co-hosting their new weekly Dick Clark TV show at the same time, where Max Frost and the Troopers appeared on the show to promote the single.
Lloyd remains a close friend of Lindsay, and has more than 100 gold and platinum albums on his studio walls, reflecting his amazing success in the industry as producer and music supervisor.

"Elvira Signed and Inscribed Photo"

A framed color publicity photo of Elvira (played by Casandra Peterson), signed and inscribed by Elvira to Paul Revere & the Raider's front man, Mark Lindsay.
When Paul Revere & The Raiders finished a concert in Denver, Colorado in 1967, they ran off stage, hopped on their tour bus, and instead of heading back to their hotel, settled in for a long overnight drive to their next show. After about an hour on the road, two teenage girls snuck out from their hiding place, concerned that they hadn’t arrived at the hotel already. The driver stopped the bus, and 16-year-old Cassandra Peterson got out and placed a call to her mother, explaining the situation and certain she was in BIG trouble. The bus waited for Peterson's mom to arrive, and the girls’ night of surprising their favorite group ended quite differently than they expected.
When Lindsay ran into Peterson - who, in the meantime, had invented her character of Elvira - at an autograph show decades later, she reminded him of the story and signed the photo to him - “To Mark - Thanks For The Ride - Elvira.”
