An Evening With Quentin TarantinO and Friends
Mark joined Quentin Tarantino and rock critic David Wild on stage at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on October 2 to discuss the Once Upon A Time in Hollywood Soundtrack. Quentin is a big ML/Raider fan, which he proved by being able to sing the opening to "I Don't Want Nobody To Lead Me On" (from the Goin' To Memphis LP), discuss "Ooh Poo Pah Doo" (from Here They Come), and heap praise on Mark's and Michael Lewis' score for Shogun Assassin...which you'll hear as part of a TV scene in his Kill Bill 2.
In case the evening couldn't get more surreal, Wu-Tang Clan (who sampled the Shogun Assassin score heavily in their critically acclaimed Liquid Swords project), joined Mark back in the green room, where he and RZA discussed the myriad of synthesizers used in the original score. Check out the Los Angeles Times for the full review. |
Movie and Soundtrack

Mark is extremely honored to have four Raider songs included in Quentin Tarantino's new blockbuster movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. When you see the movie, you'll hear Good Thing (written by Mark with Terry Melcher), which was also used extensively in the movie trailers. In addition, Hungry (Mann-Weil), It's Happening [Happening 68] and Mr Sun Mr Moon (both written by Mark) are all featured, with the latter two songs being part of a vintage Raiders' performance video clip from the Happening TV show co-hosted by Mark. Three of the songs (Good Thing, Hungry, and Mr Sun Mr Moon) are included on the official movie soundtrack.
The movie soundtrack CD is available now HERE, with vinyl coming out in October (pre-order regular pressing HERE and limited edition audiophile tequila sunrise swirl, with posters, etc, HERE.)
