I just started reading this book on Casanova's life. I'm not sure how it found its way to me, but I figured it was worth a try. All I knew was that Casanova bedded a lot of ladies, and well, basically I had previously branded him a "dog" of his era. I haven't gotten far enough into the book to recommend it or not, but so far he seems like quite a kind, nice guy (usually) who had some "issues". However, the reason I bring it up in the blog was that when I saw the photo in the frontispiece, I was immediately struck how much it resembled (in style, at least, not to mention ponytails) the famous profile shot taken of Mark for the Vogue layout in 1967. The Casanova drawing is an iconic representation of the man, and I wonder if the photographer was channeling some 60s rock star similarities when he posed Mark....hmmmm? ~ Deb |
