Chances Are

I always liked Mathis. And when we were still back in Portland (pre-Louie Louie), grinding out those 2 and 3 hour gigs, we needed to give the dancers a break from time to time.

One day, as I was setting up the band (I doubled as roadie in those early years), I was testing the mics and happened to break into Chances Are. The enhanced echo built into the armory we were playing that night sounded a lot like the famous echo chambers at CBS to my young ears. The overall effect was pretty good.

There were a few kids who had come early, and when I finished, they all clapped at my a Capella effort. Revere looked at me kinda strangely, being more used to hearing hard rock and roll issue from my mouth, and said, "You sound pretty good on that, Markus."

So we added it to our repertoire.

And here it is again, 50-odd years later, along with some of my other favorites. Hope you enjoy them.

I bet this Book of Love CD is loaded with beautiful songs. I love the artwork on the cover.. The cover would make a great poster! I will buy it. Also I just found our Paul Revere has passed away. I am so very sad for this terrible announcement. The humor and fun exhibited at Raiders concerts was and is unsurpassable. God bless you, Paul Revere

I'm with Virginia - when I read the post I could hear it in my head - Chances Are - my mom used to listen to Johnny Mathis. Of course I listened to The Raiders! I WILL find this CD and buy it. Sad to hear of Paul's passing...so many of the people I listened to in my teens are gone.

Book of Love is probably a good place to let Mark & Deb to know how touching their love story is. How you both met, felt that special connection and were to re-connect years later and still feel that powerful echo of your hearts' song is one of the great love stories of rock & roll. It is the perfect love story for Mark Lindsay and for all those adolescent girls who had a crush on him. Mark--you are true to your love as you are to your music. Many blessings for the both of you.
