Morning Report 8/26

8/26/2014

Mark's off on his morning hike after an about face. The path he usually takes along the waterway hasn't been mowed, and it's waist high with luxuriant plants (and ditto snakes, no doubt) right now. Plan B takes him along a beautiful country road, with horses, cows, egrets, and hawks for company.

Meanwhile, since it's such a pleasant morning, I'm cooking up some tofu w/some herbs in white truffle oil. The oil has a garlicky taste and is very interesting. Since we've been reading some Michael Pollan books, and revisiting a very yellowed copy of "Diet for a Small Planet", we're in a "back to basics" mode and it'll come in handy for something or other later today.

I love using tofu! You can do so many things with it.

I had the Diet for a Small Planet book. I haven't seen it in years! It was a great book. It was first published I think about thirty years ago, something like that. What a beautiful area , it sounds like where Mark was going walking. Beats the heck out of a large city if you ask me. By the way, Mark, I just bought your complete singles CD. I love the song' The Grass Wont Pay No Mind, I think Neil Diamond wrote that song. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful music. I think that song probably describes well where you went walking. Just a beautiful song of which you don't hear too many anymore. I can listen to Arizona over and over again! By the way. I am very sad for Paul Revere's passing. The fun of the Raiders was/is hard to beat. It was so fun meeting Paul after concerts. I have never met you, Mark! you don't come to the Dallas Fort Worth area in Texas too much! Maybe one day. God bless.

The Grass Won't Pay No Mind really got me when I first heard it in the 11th grade, even though it was on my parents radio station in the car. When looked for it on my phone's music I could only find the closest sound to Mark's. But when I listened to Neil Diamond's version, I didn't like it at all. But I finally found Mark's version on the youtube. ---Cathy

I stopped by your blog to say blessings to you both, Paul Revere's family, and friends. Since I am here I am so happy to hear that the two of you are trying to eat more healthy! Yes to the food revolution! I love Michael Pollan, as well as Dr. Joel Fuhrman's nutrient dense simple whole foods approach. Changing the quality of my food changed my life. I overcame so many medical problems that I started a food and wellness blog. You are invited to check it out for pages of info, tips, and recipes to help transition off of processed foods. It is called "The Queens Table Blog." Rock on! Be happy. Be healthy. Be peace.

I just watched the 1990 Oprah show with both of you on it. Mr. L., I think you should do a tour again and come through Tula. It would be sold out, believe me. Nancy
