THIS
 WEEK'S
 "DEEP DIVE"

FOR YOUR LOVE - Mark contributes this Yardbirds song to the new Cleopatra Records Tribute to Eric Clapton, available HERE. Mark is backed by Tom Petersson (12-string bass) and Rick Nielsen (many guitars) from Cheap Trick, and that's Gregg Bissonette from Ringo's All-Starr band on drums and percussion. Robert Bird is on rhythm guitar, Vox organ, and background vocals, and he also produced the track. Additional background vocals were contributed by the Notorious Bird Brothers, who are Robert's teenage sons, and who sing like, well, BIRDS! Mark and Robert are finishing up a new project with all these players, and it will be out later this year.

WILSON PICKETT AND HAPPENING '68 - When the Wicked Pickett appeared on Happening, suddenly everything came to a screeching halt. Instead of lip-synching, like every artist on the show, Wilson informed everyone that he didn't lip-synch, and he would only perform live. Wilson was vehement about this, and after he argued with the director, it became apparent that he would either perform live or not at all. People started scrambling. Since the show was recorded at the Hollywood Palace, they had a full complement of necessary gear and the crew got it all set up. Mark: "I sat in the front row, got to see Wilson and the band do their thing LIVE, and it was of course, amazing." Here's that show!

THE O'JAYS - Here's a bit more from their 50th Anniversary Show at New Jersey's Bergen Performing Arts Center. Mark has performed there many times, and loves the acoustics and production qualities of the venue. They're specifically set up to record live performances.

GREAT AIRPLANE STRIKE OF 1966 - This is the extended version of Airplane Strike, where the band was jamming, and the groove was so good that producer Terry Melcher just couldn't say, "Cut!" The plane you hear at the beginning of the single version is a P-51 Mustang.
