For this week's show, right after Labor Day,
Mark asked for YOUR suggestions for songs you like to listen to while at work.
Thanks everyone for being part of the show programming for this week!
DREW CAREY - Mark kicked off the first set with the #1 requested song for this week, The Vogues' FIVE O'CLOCK WORLD. As promised, here's the video of the very fun dance sketch that opened the first two seasons of the Drew Carey Show. And be SURE to catch Drew's FRIDAY NIGHT FREAK-OUT show in the Underground Garage on Sirius!
THE ATOMICS - Mark loves this family band's harmonies and played their version of The Grass Roots' hit, LET'S LIVE FOR TODAY. He also thought that changing the gender of the lead singer really intensified the song's lyrics. The band originated in Utah and headed to LA, where they partnered with H&M at Coachella.
THE BLACK KEYS - In the fourth set today, Mark played The Black Keys and WILD CHILD. it was one of Little Steven's Coolest Songs in the World in the Underground Garage, and one of the two coolest songs used in the 2022 Netflix movie THE GRAY MAN - the other song being Mark's SILVER BIRD, of course!

WORK WITH ME ANNIE - To close the fourth set today, Mark played the Earl Lewis & The Channels' version of this controversial song, but also mentioned that the Raiders played it at most of their very early gigs and recorded it in 1963. So...here it is...
WORKING CLASS HERO - Mark played this passionate take on the John Lennon song in the fifth set, as performed by Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul.
TREAT HER RIGHT - At the end of the fifth set, Mark played this Roy Head song that he recorded with Los Straitjackets in 2001...and told a story about touring with the wild man himself back in the day
WILD WEEKEND - In the sixth set, Mark played NRBQ's version of the song. But it got its start as the theme song for Tommy Shannon's radio show on WKBW in Buffalo. (That's also the station which sponsored the Paul Revere & the Raiders' 1967 show at Memorial auditorium, where Mark met his future wide, Deb.) Here's the history of the song in 3 videos:
OUT OF WORK - Mark closed the sixth set with Gary U.S. Bonds and this song written by Bruce Springsteen, produced by Bruce and SVZ, and performed with the E-Street Band in 1982. But in 2020, when every musician in the country was OUT OF WORK, Gary recorded this video and what he called "The Home Edition" of the song.
I CAN SEE FOR MILES - Mark ended the show with this Who tribute song that he recorded with Wayne Kramer from MC5 in 2012.
THANKS to everyone who submitted suggestions for this week's show! I couldn't play all of them, but I tried to pick the best choices for the show, and I really appreciate your taking the time to let me know what you wanted to hear today. - MARK
