This Week's
"DEEP DIVE"
I'M A MAN
This week, we're paying tribute to the guys!
I'M YOUR MAN - Mark played this Laughing Dogs song to open the third set. They were part of the CBGB club scene in New York, and also backed up Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz on a tour!
JACK, YOU'RE DEAD! - Mark closed the third set with one of the early influencers of rock and roll (and a whole lot more) - Louis Jordan & His Tympany Fave. Here he is in one of the "Soundies" (early form of music video) that Mark talked about.
OH! TO BE A MAN - Mark closed set 4 with this autobiographical song about his "fractured" relationship with his father, and talked about how they eventually reconciled. It's on the Raiders' Spirit of '67 CD, available HERE, personally autographed to YOU.
I'M A MAN - Mark closed the show with The Serfs, a funk-soul-jazz-rock band out of Kansas. As it happened, they recorded their only album in the same studio where Jimi Hendrix was recording Electric Ladyland, and three members of the band played on Jimi's album. Here's their entire Early Bird Cafe album:
