This Week's
"DEEP DIVE"
ALL REQUESTS
This week, Mark will feature songs suggested by YOU!
KEEP DOWN - Mark closed the first set with the Briks and a song they performed on the Dallas Sump'n Else TV show in 1966.
CAN YOU DIG IT - Mark closed the second set with this Monkees song and talked about their cult classic movie HEAD, which is celebrating its 55th anniversary this fall. It's available HERE.
The cast includes a motley crew of characters, including Annette Funicello, fighter Sonny Liston, and topless dancer Carol Doda, who briefly dated Raider guitarist Drake Levin when the Raiders played in San Francisco in the early 60s.
THE ELECTRONIC INSIDES AND METAL COMPLEXION THAT MAKE UP HERR DOKTOR KRIEG - Mark played the most unusual request of the day to close set five, an experimental music song by Riders of the Mark.
HOWLIN' WOLF - Mark played ROCKIN' DADDY to close the seventh set, and talked about how the Rolling Stones got Wolf his very first national TV exposure - on SHINDIG. That's The Shindogs house band with Billy Preston on piano backing him, and the Stones fan-boying in the background.
MAUI - Mark closed the last set with this song from San Diego's Thundermaier.
WILLIE K - Mark featured the late Maui artist William Awihilima Kahaiali'i - sometimes called Hawaii's Hendrix - and his Ho'okipa Surf Song, which features iconic spots on Maui, including the beloved Lahaina. When Mark lived on the north shore of Maui, he'd pass Ho'okipa every time he drove to Kahului or over to Lahaina. It's famous for windsurfing.
Mark's favorite Willie K song is Nanakuli Girl.

At Right: Mark in Lahaina in front of the Pioneer Inn with some "friends" in the late 90s.
