This Week's
"DEEP DIVE"
Time & Changes
This weekend, Mark will help you fall back
as we go through our semi-annual ritual of clock-changing
TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME - Mark opened the show with the Bruce Springsteen version of the 1970 Tyrone Davis hit. It's from Bruce's 2022 ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE project - more info HERE.

OUT OF TIME - Mark opened the first set with The Ramones version of this Jagger-Richards song. If you've seen Quentin Tarantino's ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, you may recall the scene which used the Stones' version of the song.

SOMETIMES - Mark closed the first set with a song that was the Raiders' fourth single, and explained that Terry Melcher cut the track with members of the Wrecking Crew (and others) while the Raiders were on tour - Hal Blaine, Bruce Johnston, Leon Russell, Larry Knechtel, Billy Strange, Jerry Cole, and Jim McGuinn. Mark flew in to add the vocal. It's available on the Raiders' COMPLETE COLUMBIA SINGLES 3-CD set, which is out of print, but we have a few copies HERE, personally autographed to you by Mark Lindsay. https://youtu.be/B44IvdJQJlY?si=5_BkJqIg7S9_q44A |
Mark explained that the song was written and first recorded by Gene Thomas (1961 - as "SOMETIME"), then the Raiders (recorded 2/23/65), then the Kingsmen (released 9/65). and then the Uniques (1969). Here are those other versions. You can see how the Kingsmen version is "heavily influenced" by the Raiders' version.
