This Week's
"DEEP DIVE"
NAUGHTY....OR NICE?
It's the week of Rock & Roll Naughty Posterboy Jim Morrison's birthday,
to mention the anniversary of one of his many arrests.
Which got us to thinking...
Santa needs some list-making music while he's finalizing
which side the names go on...
So..Mark will be playing two hours of the best American music
all about being naughty...or nice!
DEAR MR CLAUS - Mark opened the show with The Raiders, and a song that he and Terry Melcher wrote for the 1967 cult classic album, A CHRISTMAS PRESENT...AND PAST. It's available (on CD) HERE, personally autographed to YOU by Mark Lindsay.

JIM MORRISON - Here's what went down in New Haven, this week in 1967, as told by the band who opened for The Doors:
“A dressing room attached to a bathroom attached to a dressing room and so on and so forth all the way around the building. When Morrison decided that he wanted a little bit of attention from the brunette that he wound up with, he just kept walking through doors until he stopped in our bathroom.
(A young groupie caught Morrison’s eye, and he decided the shower stall of The Riviera’s dressing room was the place to get to know her better. The guitar player, who walked in on the couple didn’t recognize Morrison and confronted them.)
'Who the hell are you and what are you doing back here?' is what the guitar player asked Jim Morrison. And of course Morrison, typical Morrison, told him to go f*** himself.
“So I opened up the door to the hallway, which is where all the police were.” Tommy remembers the officer walking into the shower stall and telling Morrison to leave. He also remembers that Morrison said “Eat me” to the officer, who then pulled out a can of mace.
“As he’s shaking the mace, he says, ‘This is your last chance to evacuate the property and leave,'” said Janette. “And Morrison turned around and said, ‘This is your last chance to eat me’ and pushed the cop. So I open up the door to the hall and holler ‘Fight!’ and about 10 police came in and proceeded to knock the hell out of Morrison.” (H/T WTNH, CT.)

WILD THING - Mark opened Set 4 with this song by "Senator Bobby", which Time Magazine said "had all the lustiness of a dried cod." Apparently the people LIKED dried cod, since it sold as many copies as the Raiders' KICKS did. He followed it up with a BOSTON SOUL album.

BAD GIRL - Mark played this highly collectible Raider 45 in the fifth set. It was recorded in 1967 but hidden in the vaults until 2012, so it's the LAST Raider 45 ever released. You can get one of the few remaining copies personalized to you HERE.

SOLDIERS HOME - Mark closed the show with this song from his VIDEO DREAMS album, recorded in 1996. Scott Kempner, co-founder of The Dictators and The Del-Lords, passed away this week, and he wrote the song. You can get a personally autographed copy of the CD HERE.
(BTW, Danny Federici from the E-Street Band also guests on the album.)
